Even though it clocks in at almost two hours, my two kids didn’t ask for one bathroom break. The action is fast and furious with thrilling animated scenes, mostly of folks wielding sharp knives, and even guns, chasing after the little rodents.

Kids will enjoy much of the slapstick humor and the broadly drawn characters who are easily distinguishable between good and evil. Dads will enjoy the story and production quality we expect from a Pixar movie. It’s always a treat to see a movie with your kids that has adult-level humor in a story that proves you don’t have to have a PG rating to be entertaining to all age levels.
Be aware that there is a lot of talk of death and killing in this film which may be disturbing to little ones. While my three-year old boy had no problem with the action sequences, my seven year said she would have preferred to skip the early shooting scenes. Be assured that no rats were killed in the making of this movie, and none die in it either.
