Advances in technology have made much of the world more connected through computers and wireless handheld devices. However, for fathers new technology means utilizing diligent parenting skills to ensure their children are safe when using the internet.
In a recent survey, more parents citeut internet dangers as their number one concern with their children’s wellbeing.
According to a Norton Online Living Family Survey, which was conducted last month, 56 percent of parents who responded said online predators and cyberbuillies were important dangers to be aware of in their child’s development. This is compared to the 44 percent who said they were concerned with drug-related threats.
While there are a number of programs for fathers to purchase that will monitor their child’s online time, some dads opt to talk to their children about the internet and, when they can, investigate the technology their children are so interested in.
Also, with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter so popular, it may be a good idea to join these websites yourself and either "friend" or "follow" your child, which may give fathers an innovative new way to bond with their children.
