A sad child does not always mean that he is suffering from depression. Sadness is part of the normal grind of day-to-day life. Chances are, your child is undergoing through such a phase. Such sadness, or blues, is usually short lived, and the kids are back to their normal self within a few days, or even hours. Depression, on the other hand, is usually more long term than this. If your child lacks motivation, and shows little interest or enthusiasm in things around him for weeks or months on end, he certainly needs your help.
If you detect these signs early, and take prompt steps to treat depression in your kid, your child will be less probable to such bouts in the future. You should be alert to your child’s changing behavior, the body language, the moods, and other indicators.
