Being Daddy is closing shop, because Brian Cassidy has decided that since his daughter is four, “she deserves to grow up with her privacy intact.” It was fun while it lasted.
Funny thing is that at about two, or a tad less, is when dads usually get more involved with their kids. The kids themselves start talking and finally give dad back a bit the attention they have been short on (from all quarters).
And actually, this is what Brian explains. He’s launching a business, and also wants to spend more time with his daughter, as opposed to writing about her.
Add that to Full Time Father, and others, which also shut down for the same reason. In fact, of the eight dad blogs listed on BLOGHORREA, only four are still operating. Add that to the tons of dad blogs where the last entry was some time in the summer of 2004…
My six-year-old asked me why I was writing a GreatDad website since I’m “already a great dad.” Point taken. Lesson learned, however: writing a blog about parenting isn’t the same as parenting, or being a great dad.
