It’s September and still just a tad too early for Christmas songs. Then why at the gym and in the car or at my desk, does my iPod or iTunes continuously shuffle these songs into the mix? To take these or any other songs out of the shuffle mix (like podcasts or ebooks as other examples), do a search on the genre or category in the upper right hand search bar of iTunes. Then, highlight all the songs and go to the file menu and select “get info.” iTunes will ask you if you want to edit information for multiple items. Say yes, and you’ll see a list of options, including “Skip when shuffling.” Choose YES and you’ve solved this one nagging frustration until November, when you can turn it back on again if you’re ready. Here’s a good dad song that works year around: “Bein’ a Dad” by Loudon Wainwright.
